A MESSAGE FROM chairman HEATHER SINDEN
As many know the history of Hooe has been researched and recorded by John James Newport and published in the book “Records of Hooe”, in addition his grandson John Newport has an interesting website. Little of the late 19th and 20th century IS recorded and I, along with Anne Bourner, Pam, and Rev Peter Doodes and Peter Hayward, Felt now was the time to make a start before it was too late. we hope to collect photographs, of people and events which have taken place in Hooe. Newspaper cuttings of events that have taken place in the village, people’s memories, and stories of Hooe and its inhabitants, will also be most welcome for our archives. If you have anything that you feel would be interesting about Hooe please share it with us, AS I am sure we are only beginning to scratch the surface!

Fabien Richter and Matthew Chapman: Hall Cross Farmhouse, a piece of Hooe's History
From the earliest records in the 16th Century all the way to the present day, Halls Cross farmhouse, at the top of Church Lane, has reflected the changes that Hooe has seen over the last five centuries. This talk is based on detailed historical research about the history of Halls Cross, its name, its owners and occupants and how they interacted with their neighbourhood, including even the War Memorial in St Oswald's church. A number of rare, historic photos and maps will complement the talk and help to illustrate each stage of the history of Halls Cross.
The annual subscription is now £15.00; "day ticket" for non-members £4.00; and we will make a small charge of £5.00 per head for social events. (Peter Hayward)
